Molenvliet sits in the Banhoek Valley outside Stellenbosch, with vineyards and mountains surrounding the wedding spaces. The estate brings accommodation, ceremonies, portraits and receptions together, making it a beautiful setting for a relaxed wedding weekend.
Preparations at Molenvliet Vineyards
Stay and get ready on the estate in the Guest Cottages, Mountain View Suites, River Manor or Manor House. With around 27 rooms, your closest family and friends can settle in for the weekend.
Having everyone nearby means a slower wedding morning and fewer transfers. From our photography perspective, that gives us more time for the small moments, while guests staying onsite can walk back to their rooms after the celebration.
Ceremony at Molenvliet Vineyards
The Manor House lawn offers a classic garden setting, the poolside lawn feels more intimate, and the vineyard lawn brings vines and mountain views into the ceremony. Each has a different atmosphere, so choose the space around your guest count and style.
The wine cellar offers an indoor option with character. The courtyard beside the main venue can also be covered with a Bedouin tent, allowing the celebration to stay on the estate when the weather changes.
Photo Session at Molenvliet Vineyards
The vineyards and Banhoek mountains are our first choices as the afternoon light softens. Large oak trees add shade and texture, while the winding, tree-lined path creates lovely leading lines for relaxed walking photographs.
The lawns, gardens and white Manor House bring a more classic look. The courtyard and wine cellar offer a different mood, and the Manor House provides a sheltered option in wet weather. These locations are close together, giving your portraits variety without keeping you away from guests for long.

Reception at Molenvliet Vineyards
The main reception hall is an adaptable white space with Cape Dutch and Colonial character. Barrel doors, chandeliers and a neutral interior work beautifully with long tables, statement flowers, lighting and a dance floor.
The vineyard-facing deck beside the hall can host a smaller outdoor reception or serve as a space for drinks, canapés and lounging. The connecting veranda makes the transition indoors feel natural.
The open-air courtyard offers another setting for an intimate reception and can be covered with a Bedouin tent. For a different atmosphere, consider the wine cellar for a smaller dinner or welcome event, or outdoor dining on the vineyard lawn in suitable weather. Ask the estate about the layout that suits your celebration.
A wedding weekend at Molenvliet
Onsite accommodation makes room for more than the wedding itself: a welcome dinner, an unhurried morning and time together afterwards. This is especially valuable when family travels from overseas.
An experienced coordinator can help you choose ceremony and reception spaces, plan for changing weather and keep the day flowing. We have enjoyed working with The Event Planners, Trunk Events, Warren-Stone Weddings and Wedding Concepts.
