Nicole and Pavel’s Vrede en Lust wedding brought together a garden ceremony, vineyard portraits and a reception beneath fairy lights. ZaraZoo captured their Franschhoek celebration in photographs and film, with planning by Lizelle Duim of Celebration Theory.
Nicole & Pavel’s Wedding at Vrede en Lust
There is something special about bringing your favourite people together in the Cape Winelands. For Nicole and Pavel, Vrede en Lust offered the gardens, mountain views and space to make a whole celebration of it. Their wedding at this Franschhoek wine estate combined an intimate gathering with plenty of music, thoughtful details and a beautiful setting for our photography and film.
Lizelle Duim of Celebration Theory coordinated the celebrations, from an all-white welcome braai at the Pool House to the wedding itself. Lawn games and marimba entertainment from Shake & Bake Entertainment set a relaxed mood for the welcome gathering.
Preparations and a Garden Ceremony
Nicole’s preparations took place in the Manor House, with Ida Webster taking care of her hair and makeup, while Pavel prepared at Barbere Cottage. The estate’s historic buildings and leafy gardens gave us lovely settings for the preparations and the moments shared with family.
The ceremony took place on the lawn, framed by the estate’s greenery and a black half-moon arch. Sitting Pretty created the flowers, while a classical duo from Shout Music Company supplied the ceremony music. Our photographs follow Nicole’s walk down the aisle, the vows and the smiles that greeted the newlyweds.

Garden Celebrations and Vrede en Lust Wedding Portraits
After the ceremony, the celebrations moved into the garden for drinks and congratulations. An African jazz trio from Shout Music Company added to the atmosphere as everyone gathered around Nicole and Pavel.
We love the variety that Vrede en Lust offers for wedding photography. The white buildings, established trees and vineyard setting give couples space to enjoy a few quiet moments together while we capture their portraits. Nicole and Pavel’s photographs balance those moments with the hugs, laughter and connections that make a wedding personal.
Thoughtful Flowers, Furniture and Details
Sitting Pretty brought the floral details together, with furniture supplied by Palm Event Hire. Wooden banquet tables and gold-rimmed underplates formed part of the reception setting, while Nicole’s own stationery added a personal touch. The photographs preserve these details alongside the people who enjoyed them.
A Vineyard Terrace Reception Beneath Fairy Lights
The Vineyard Terrace brought everyone together for the reception. Authentic Planning supplied the lighting and installations, including a fairy-light canopy and the outdoor dance-floor setting. The lights created a warm backdrop for the tables and celebrations.
Vrede en Lust handled the catering and bar, with South African touches on the menu including mini milk tarts and malva pudding with Amarula custard. The reception plans also included a breaking-of-bread tradition and ice cream from Hustle.
From the speeches to the first dance and the party that followed, our photographs and wedding film tell the story through Nicole, Pavel and their guests. The garden ceremony, vineyard setting and glowing reception each brought a different feel to this Vrede en Lust wedding.
