Luxury Wedding at Cavalli
Daiana & Samke
Some weddings are beautiful. Some weddings are elegant. And then, every now and again, you photograph a wedding that feels like it quietly rewrites the rulebook for what a venue can do.
Daiana and Samka’s Luxury Wedding at Cavalli was exactly that kind of celebration.
We had already photographed Samka’s sister’s wedding at MolenVliet a few years earlier, so walking into this wedding felt wonderfully familiar. There is something very special about photographing another celebration for a family you already know. You understand the energy, the relationships, the moments that matter, and you arrive not as a stranger, but almost like an old friend with a camera.
Daiana is from Russia and Samka is from South Africa, and their wedding brought those worlds together in the most stylish way. With the help of Aleit Wedding Coordination, their celebration at Cavalli Wine and Stud Farm became a full luxury wedding experience — not only a ceremony and reception, but a complete day-to-night celebration.

A Cavalli Wedding That Felt Completely Different
Cavalli has always been one of those Stellenbosch wedding venues that gives you so much to work with as photographers. The architecture is modern and clean, the views are wide open, the dam gives you beautiful reflections, and the Helderberg mountains sit in the background like they were placed there especially for wedding photos.
But this wedding had another layer to it.
Most couples use Cavalli’s main function venue for the reception, and that already works beautifully. Daiana and Samka went further. They also booked out the restaurant and transformed it into a full nightclub-style afterparty. From a photography point of view, that gave the wedding a proper second act. The day did not simply move from ceremony to dinner to dancing. It evolved from an elegant Cavalli wedding into a high-end private party.
At the time, this felt like a first for Cavalli, and honestly, we have not seen another couple do it in quite the same way since.
Getting Ready at Majeka House
The day started at Majeka House in Stellenbosch, where the preparation part of the wedding took place. Majeka is always a lovely preparation venue because it gives you beautiful interiors, enough space to work, and that calm, polished feeling that works so well before a big wedding.
The bridal styling by Sam Scarborough fitted the day perfectly — elegant, refined and very much in line with the luxury feel of the wedding.
For Daiana and Samka’s wedding, the preparation part of the day had that lovely sense of anticipation. With a wedding of this scale, there is always a buzz in the air: hair and make-up, family arriving, the bridal party getting dressed, final details being checked, and everyone slowly realising that the day is really happening.
These are the kinds of moments we love photographing because they give the final wedding story its heart. The big Cavalli views are amazing, but the quiet moments beforehand often become some of the most meaningful images.
Ceremony on the Lawn Next to the Dam
The ceremony took place on the lawn area next to the dam at Cavalli. This is one of the most beautiful ceremony settings at the venue because it gives you space, water, mountains and that unmistakable Stellenbosch feeling all in one view.
Daiana arrived with her father, with Samka waiting at the front with his groomsmen. The setting was elegant without feeling stiff, and the whole ceremony had a wonderful sense of occasion. It was formal enough to feel grand, but still warm and personal enough to feel like a family celebration.
The floral and furniture styling by a|CREATE added to the refined atmosphere of the day, while the broader design and logistics came together beautifully through the planning team.
After the ceremony, the couple stepped into that wonderful confetti moment surrounded by their guests. These are always some of our favourite frames at a Cavalli wedding — the couple wrapped in joy, guests cheering around them, and the landscape quietly holding the whole scene together.
Pre-Dinner Drinks, Music and Celebration
After the ceremony, guests moved into the pre-dinner part of the day on the lawn next to the dam. There were drinks, canapés, live entertainment and that lovely relaxed energy that happens when the formal part of the day is done and everyone can start celebrating properly.
The entertainment gave the wedding a wonderful sense of movement and culture. With performers, music and a festive atmosphere, the pre-dinner section did not feel like a gap between ceremony and reception. It felt like a full part of the celebration.
This is where Cavalli works so well as a luxury wedding venue. Guests never feel boxed into one space. The day can flow naturally from one beautiful area to the next. You have the dam, the lawn, the modern venue, the restaurant, the mountain views and the vineyards all playing their part.
For us as photographers, this flow is gold. It means the story has variety. You can photograph the wide scenic images, the candid guest moments, the elegant details, the entertainment, the family groupings and then still sneak away with the couple for those signature Cavalli portraits.
Our Favourite Cavalli Photo Locations
Cavalli is one of those venues where we already know there are certain places we always want to use if the light and timing allow it.
The dam wall is one of our favourites. When you place the couple between the fynbos with the Stellenbosch mountains in the background, you get that big “wow” Cavalli image. It feels modern, natural and dramatic all at once.
We also love photographing bridal parties on the main road next to the modern Cavalli building. The clean architecture, the long lines and the towering Helderberg mountain in the background make it feel almost editorial.
Then there are the vineyards. They give a softer, more romantic side to the venue. Cavalli may be known for its architecture and luxury feel, but the vines bring the wedding back to its Winelands roots.
And because Cavalli is also a stud farm, there is always that possibility of including the equestrian side of the estate in the couple photos if it can be arranged. It adds something unique and unmistakably Cavalli.
An Elegant Reception in the Main Venue
The reception took place inside Cavalli’s main venue. The evening included speeches, family-style dining, theatrical performances and a beautifully planned dinner experience.
The lighting and sound by Ampere helped create the atmosphere for the evening, while the decor, hiring and technical setup came together with suppliers such as In and Out Events, Top Table, Ehire and Muse Décor Hire.
What we remember most is that the reception did not feel like a standard wedding dinner. There was a sense of theatre to the evening. The couple and guests were led into the reception by performers, and the entertainment continued throughout the night. Everything felt considered.
And that is what makes a luxury wedding work. It is not only about beautiful details. It is about the guest experience. It is about flow. It is about surprise. It is about making people feel like they are part of something they will talk about for years.
The Cavalli Restaurant Afterparty
Then came the part that made this wedding truly different.
The first dance did not happen in the main reception space. It happened in the afterparty area — Cavalli’s restaurant, which had been transformed into a nightclub.
That was the moment where the wedding changed gear completely.
The restaurant became a dedicated party space, with lighting, sound, a dance floor atmosphere and the kind of energy you normally associate with a high-end private event rather than a traditional wedding. It gave guests a completely new experience without having to leave the estate.
From a photography perspective, this was brilliant. The images from this part of the night had a totally different mood from the ceremony and dinner. The earlier part of the day was elegant and scenic. The afterparty was bold, energetic and full of movement.
It is still one of the most memorable Cavalli wedding ideas we have seen.
A Wedding Film Team We Loved Working With
It is always a pleasure working alongside a strong video team, and Vision on Fire captured the moving story of the day alongside us. Weddings like this have so many layers — the quiet preparation moments, the emotional ceremony, the family speeches, the performances, the architecture, the afterparty — and it helps so much when the photo and video teams work well together.
Daiana and Samka’s wedding had all the ingredients for a beautiful visual story, and Cavalli gave us the perfect setting to capture it.
Why Cavalli Works So Well for a Luxury Wedding
A Luxury Wedding at Cavalli works because the venue gives you range. You can have a refined outdoor ceremony, beautiful pre-dinner drinks, an elegant reception and a high-energy party without the day feeling disjointed.
The venue also photographs incredibly well. The light, the architecture, the dam, the vineyards and the mountains all give us different visual chapters to work with. For couples who want their wedding photos to feel polished, modern and unmistakably Cape Winelands, Cavalli is one of the strongest venue choices in Stellenbosch.
Daiana and Samka’s wedding showed exactly how far you can take the venue when you have a strong creative team, a couple with vision and a guest experience that is planned from beginning to end.
It was not just a beautiful wedding at Cavalli. It was a reminder that a wedding venue can become something completely new when a couple is brave enough to use it differently.
Final Thoughts
Daiana and Samka’s Luxury Wedding at Cavalli will always stand out to us because it combined everything we love about photographing weddings in Stellenbosch: beautiful light, stylish people, emotional family moments, strong design, great entertainment and a couple who trusted the team to create something extraordinary.
It also gave us one of the most unique Cavalli afterparty setups we have ever photographed. Booking out the restaurant and turning it into a nightclub was bold, clever and incredibly memorable.
For couples dreaming of a luxury wedding in Stellenbosch, Cavalli remains one of those venues that can deliver the full experience — from elegant ceremony to mountain-view portraits to a reception and party that guests will never forget.
