Ify and Nsor’s intimate wedding at Cavalli Estate brought together a small circle of guests for a summer celebration in the Stellenbosch Winelands. From Ify’s preparations at Banhoek Lodge to their Sunken Garden ceremony and candlelit Conservatory reception, the day combined personal moments with carefully considered styling. A small guest list can change the feel of a wedding. There is more space for conversations, photographs with the people closest to the couple, and a reception that feels like a shared celebration around one table. Ify and Nsor’s wedding at Cavalli Estate brought that sense of intimacy to a setting with plenty of visual variety.
Their celebration moved through three distinct spaces: the Sunken Garden for the ceremony, the lawn for drinks and canapés, and the Conservatory for dinner and dancing. Lize-Mari Raats of We Creatif Weddings & Events handled the on-the-day coordination, bringing the suppliers and each part of the programme together.
Bridal preparations at Banhoek Lodge
Ify prepared for the wedding at Banhoek Lodge, on Helshoogte Road in Stellenbosch. Starting the day away from the ceremony venue gave the preparations their own chapter before the celebration moved to Cavalli. Bridal transport was provided by SA Classics.
For our wedding photography and video, these preparations form part of the story alongside the ceremony and reception. They give context to the portraits that follow, preserving the anticipation and details before the couple meet at the ceremony.
A Sunken Garden wedding ceremony
Ify and Nsor exchanged vows in Cavalli’s Sunken Garden. The ceremony design by N Concepts & Designs paired a floral and greenery arch with a white gloss aisle, transparent ghost chairs and large floral arrangements on white plinths. The combination kept the setting light while giving the ceremony a defined focal point.
Shout Music Company provided the ceremony sound. After the vows, the couple’s exit led into a confetti celebration with their guests: a lively contrast to the quieter ceremony moments and a natural transition into the afternoon’s festivities.

Jazz, canapés and wedding portraits at Cavalli
Following the ceremony, guests gathered on the lawn for drinks and canapés. N Concepts & Designs created a relaxed lounge area beneath a draped cabana, with illuminated “I&N” letters on the deck adding a detail personal to the couple.
An acoustic jazz duo from Shout Music Company provided the live music for this part of the celebration. Cavalli’s catering included a selection of canapés, giving guests time to enjoy the setting while we photographed Ify and Nsor with their family and friends before moving into the couple portraits.
The photography programme also made room for a separate sunset portrait session. That breathing space matters at a Stellenbosch wedding: it allows the photographs to move beyond the formal group pictures and gives the couple time together as the light changes.
A candlelit reception in Cavalli’s Conservatory
The Conservatory reception brought the celebration into a more intimate dining setting. N Concepts & Designs styled the long table with white cabana structures, chandeliers, greenery, white flowers and dinner candles. Light grey napkins completed the table setting, while a suspended cake stand decorated with flowers and greenery made the wedding cake part of the overall design.
Cavalli Estate provided the wedding catering. The dinner menu included smoked chicken Caesar salad, beef fillet with potato rösti and vegetables, and a white chocolate mousse dessert with strawberries, shortbread and meringue. Bar service and staffing were provided by Shake and Serve, the business now known as DIENS Hospitality.
The wedding cake came from Wade’s Cakes. Together, the dining, flowers and candlelight gave the reception its own visual character, different from the outdoor ceremony and lawn reception.
From the first dance to the evening celebration
The cake cutting led into the first dance and the evening’s dancing, with Shout Music Company providing the wedding DJ, reception sound and dance floor lighting. Confetti and the couple’s guests brought movement and colour to the reception photographs, completing the story after the quieter portraits.
