Avontuur Estate Wedding Photos
Annemie & Braam
Annemie and Braam’s wedding at Avontuur Estate was a beautifully planned Cape Winelands celebration. Their day moved from the manor house ceremony to pre-drinks on the terrace, followed by a warm reception in the Barrel Cellar.

From a photography point of view, Avontuur Estate offers a lovely mix of spaces. The manor house gives the ceremony a classic setting, the terrace works well for relaxed guest moments, and the Barrel Cellar brings a completely different feel to the evening photos.
The day was coordinated by Warren-Stone Weddings, with a strong team of suppliers helping to bring the full celebration together.

Getting ready before the ceremony
The morning started with both sides getting ready before arriving at the venue. Braam and the groomsmen got ready at Talk of the Town, while Annemie’s preparations took place at Luna de Miel.
These getting-ready moments are always an important part of the wedding story. It is where the day starts to take shape: the final hair and make-up touches, the dress, the flowers, and the quieter family moments before the ceremony begins.
Annemie’s hair and make-up was done by Ida Webster, while the floral work by Anna Botany brought a soft and natural feel to the day.
Ceremony on the manor house steps
The ceremony took place on the manor house steps at Avontuur Estate. It was a simple, elegant setting that did not need to be overdone. The focus stayed on the couple, their family, and the moment itself.
Annemie walked down the aisle to “Just Like Heaven” by Brandon Lake. The ceremony included a worship moment, followed by confetti as the couple walked back down the aisle together. These are the kinds of moments we love to photograph: natural reactions, movement, and the real atmosphere of the day.
Pre-drinks on the terrace
After the ceremony, guests moved to the terrace for pre-drinks. This part of the day is always great for documentary-style wedding photos. Guests are relaxed, the formal part of the day is done, and there are usually plenty of natural interactions to capture.
The couple included live music by Zest Music, which added to the atmosphere during pre-drinks. While guests enjoyed canapés and drinks, we photographed the family groups and wedding party portraits.
Family photos and wedding party portraits
With 83 guests, the timeline was well planned to keep the family photos organised without letting them take over the afternoon. Family photos are not always the most creative part of the day, but they are some of the most important images in the final gallery.
After the family photos, we moved into the wedding party portraits. Avontuur Estate gives enough variety to keep this part of the shoot interesting without needing to move too far from the guests. We always try to keep wedding party photos relaxed, with enough direction to make everyone look good, but not so much that the photos feel stiff.
Golden-hour couple photos at Avontuur Estate
The couple shoot was planned for the late afternoon, close to sunset. This is one of the best times of the day for Avontuur Estate wedding photos, especially when the light becomes softer and more flattering.
For Annemie and Braam, this gave us a quiet window to create portraits of just the two of them. Our approach is to guide where needed, but not to over-direct. We want the couple photos to feel natural and personal, not overly posed.
The best wedding portraits usually come from a combination of good light, gentle direction and real connection between the couple.
Reception in the Barrel Cellar
The reception took place in the Barrel Cellar at Avontuur Estate. The décor and lighting by NConcepts helped create a warm, classic reception setting with off-white tablecloths, textured napkins, candles, floral details and fairy lights.
The cellar setting gave the evening a cosy feel and created a completely different mood from the outdoor parts of the day. It is always good when a wedding gallery has this kind of variety, moving from daylight ceremony images to warm, candlelit reception photos.
Annemie and Braam entered the reception to “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” by Queen. The evening continued with dinner, speeches, cake cutting and dancing. The DJ for the evening was Baha Entertainment, who took over the music for the reception and dance floor.
Why Avontuur Estate works well for wedding photos
Avontuur Estate is a strong choice for couples who want a Cape Winelands wedding with a good balance of indoor and outdoor spaces. It offers different photographic areas without making the day feel spread out or complicated.
For Annemie and Braam, the venue allowed the full wedding story to unfold naturally: getting-ready photos, a manor house ceremony, relaxed pre-drinks, family photos, golden-hour portraits and a warm Barrel Cellar reception.
Their Avontuur Estate wedding photos had a good mix of documentary moments, classic portraits and atmosphere-driven reception images.
