TRUNK EVENTS CAPE TOWN WEDDING PLANNER REVIEW
Tracy Banford & Team
We have worked alongside Trunk Events at weddings across the Cape Winelands, from a four-day Nigerian destination celebration at Cavalli Estate to an elegant weekend wedding at Molenvliet and an earlier Webersburg wedding from the ZaraZoo archive. From our perspective as wedding photographers and videographers, Tracy Banford and her team combine calm coordination with a strong styling eye, creating celebrations that feel personal, polished and enjoyable to document.
Our Experience Working with Trunk Events
Choosing a wedding coordinator is about much more than finding someone who can compile a timeline. The right planner shapes the experience for the couple, the guests and every supplier working behind the scenes. Having photographed and filmed several weddings coordinated by Trunk Events, we have seen how much difference thoughtful preparation makes.
Tracy Banford and her team bring together planning, event management and styling. That combination is one of their greatest strengths. The practical parts of the celebration are carefully organised, while the visual direction still feels coherent and personal to the couple.
As photographers and videographers, we experience a wedding from a supplier perspective that couples do not always see. We notice whether the programme allows enough time for portraits, whether family photographs have been considered, whether suppliers know where they need to be and whether changes are communicated clearly. On the weddings we have shared with Trunk Events, the days have felt considered and professionally managed.

Who Is Tracy Banford?
Tracy Banford is the founder, Senior Wedding Planner and Creative Director behind Trunk Events. Before moving into weddings and events, she spent two decades in the South African fashion industry. That background is evident in the way she approaches colour, texture, proportion and personal style.
Tracy does not treat styling as an extra layer added after the planning is complete. Instead, the visual identity of the wedding is considered as part of the full experience. The venue, flowers, tablescape, lighting, stationery and flow of the spaces need to work together rather than compete for attention.
She has worked with her team for more than 13 years, building an approach based on listening closely to each couple and translating their ideas into a celebration that feels recognisably theirs. Clients value her energy, resilience and hands-on involvement, but just as important is the calm support the team provides throughout the planning journey and on the wedding day itself.
Wedding Planning, Event Management and Styling
Trunk Events offers a complete service for couples who want one experienced team to guide the celebration from the first decisions through to the final moments of the day.
Their work can include venue and supplier selection, budget guidance, planning schedules, guest logistics, wedding-day timelines, décor direction, floral concepts, tablescapes, lighting and on-the-day coordination. Bringing these elements together under one creative direction helps the wedding feel consistent, while also reducing the number of separate decisions the couple needs to manage.
Couples who have already made many of their arrangements can also benefit from event management and on-the-day coordination. This gives the couple and their families the freedom to be present while the Trunk Events team manages the programme, supplier arrivals, setup and the unexpected details that inevitably arise.
What a Well-Planned Wedding Means for Photography and Film
A realistic wedding timeline protects the experience as much as it protects the photographs. If every part of the day is scheduled too tightly, the couple can feel as though they are moving from one task to the next. It also leaves no breathing room when hair and makeup runs late, weather changes or a speech lasts longer than expected.
A strong coordinator understands where flexibility is needed. The best timelines make space for the important photographs without taking the couple away from their guests for too long. They also consider the available light, travel between locations and the natural pace of the celebration.
When that planning is handled well, we can focus on documenting honest moments instead of solving logistical problems. The result is usually a more relaxed couple, a smoother programme and photographs and film that reflect how the day genuinely felt.
Monique and Moses at Cavalli Estate
One of the most memorable celebrations we documented with Trunk Events was Monique and Moses’ luxury Nigerian wedding at Cavalli Estate. The celebration took place at the official Cavalli Estate wedding venue in Stellenbosch. Couples considering the estate can also read our detailed Cavalli Estate wedding venue review.
This was not simply a single wedding day. It formed part of a four-day destination celebration for 175 guests travelling from the United States, the United Kingdom, Uganda, Germany, Australia and Malaysia. The programme included a rehearsal dinner and South African experience at Gold Restaurant, an all-white party in Cape Town, the wedding at Cavalli Estate and a relaxed Sunday braai overlooking Camps Bay.
Coordinating a celebration of this scale requires careful communication, strong supplier management and a clear understanding of the couple’s cultural priorities. The wedding brought together family, heritage, elegant styling and high-energy entertainment, yet the different elements still felt connected.
For us, the success of the planning was visible in the way the day moved. There was space for the ceremony, family moments, couple portraits and a reception filled with music and cultural energy. Trunk Events created the framework that allowed each part of the celebration to have its own moment.
A Weekend Wedding at Molenvliet
We also worked with the team on a weekend wedding at Molenvliet Vineyards in Stellenbosch. The celebration was hosted at the official MolenVliet Vineyards wedding venue. Couples can learn more about the setting, accommodation and photographic opportunities in our MolenVliet wedding venue review.
Molenvliet offers several beautiful spaces, mountain views and changing light throughout the day. Using the venue well requires a programme that guides guests naturally between the different parts of the estate while leaving enough time for the couple to enjoy the setting.
Trunk Events brought the celebration together alongside the décor and floral team, creating a polished visual experience without losing the relaxed atmosphere of a Winelands wedding. From our point of view, the coordination gave us the time and access needed to tell a complete story across photography and film.
Neusa and Renato’s Webersburg Wedding
Our working relationship with Tracy reaches back into the ZaraZoo archive. Trunk Events coordinated Neusa and Renato’s wedding at Webersburg, hosted at the official Webersburg wedding venue. It is a classic Stellenbosch setting with Cape Dutch architecture, vineyards, lawns and mature oak trees.
Looking back at this wedding is a useful reminder that strong planning and styling do not depend on short-lived trends. When the design reflects the couple and works with the venue, the celebration remains visually appealing years later.
Webersburg provides many photographic possibilities, but it also requires thought about movement between the manor house, gardens and reception areas. Good coordination helps the couple use those spaces fully without making the day feel fragmented.
Styling That Supports the Story
Tracy’s fashion background gives Trunk Events a distinctive eye, but good styling is not only about making a wedding look impressive. The most successful design choices support the mood of the celebration and help guests understand how the couple wants the day to feel.
From a photographic perspective, cohesion matters. Colour, lighting, flowers, table details and the use of space all influence the final images. When these elements are thoughtfully curated, they create layers and context without distracting from the people and emotions at the centre of the story.
That is something we appreciate in Trunk Events weddings. The styling feels intentional, yet the celebration still has room to breathe. The people never become secondary to the décor.
Destination and Multicultural Weddings in the Cape Winelands
Many couples planning a wedding in Cape Town or the Cape Winelands live elsewhere in South Africa or overseas. They may be choosing venues and suppliers from a distance, arranging accommodation and transport for guests, or combining several family and cultural traditions within one celebration.
Trunk Events is well suited to this kind of planning. A local team can become the couple’s point of contact, coordinate appointments and site visits, manage suppliers and keep the many moving parts connected. The team’s experience with destination and multicultural celebrations is particularly valuable when a wedding extends over several events or includes a large international guest list.
The reviews on the Trunk Events website repeatedly mention the team’s organisation, responsiveness and calm presence. Couples also describe feeling supported while planning from abroad and being able to enjoy their wedding without carrying the pressure of managing it themselves.
Who Would We Recommend Trunk Events To?
Based on our experience working alongside them, we would recommend Trunk Events to:
- Couples planning a wedding in Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Franschhoek or the wider Cape Winelands
- International couples arranging a destination wedding in South Africa
- Couples who want planning and styling to form one coherent creative process
- Multicultural families bringing several traditions into one celebration
- Couples planning a full wedding weekend or several connected events
- Clients who value a calm, organised team and clear supplier communication
- Couples who want to be fully present while an experienced team manages the day
Our Trunk Events Review
Our opinion of a coordinator is shaped by what happens away from the spotlight: the preparation before guests arrive, the communication between suppliers, the way a timeline responds to real life and the calm handling of last-minute changes.
Across the weddings we have documented with Trunk Events, Tracy and her team have shown the combination of creativity and practical discipline that a successful celebration needs. They care about the details, but they also understand that the purpose of all the planning is to help people enjoy the day.
That balance is why we are comfortable recommending Trunk Events to ZaraZoo couples. Their weddings are beautifully considered, professionally managed and personal to the people being celebrated.
