Beautiful Autumn Wedding at Natte Valleij
Natte Valleij was the perfect venue for the “Into the Woods” theme they envisaged. They wanted a rustic, earthy feel, incorporating warm autumn colours. They wanted a laid back atmosphere, with a touch of mystery and magic. I think they pulled it off perfectly! To add to the cosy ambience, they used an abundance of candles, berries scattered on tables and animal themed tables names – such as squirrels, woodpeckers, wolves etc. Some of the very unique elements included a wedding cake made out of layered pancakes, covered with berries and syrup. To tie in with the winter warm feel, they also served Gluhwein during the pre-reception drinks.
Anneke cannot stop talking about the help and assistance she got with the planning. Not only did Niel give his fair share of input and decision making, but there was also their amazing group of friends that helped on the day and with the planning. Not to forget Anneke’s Parents, Stoney and Magdalena that made furniture, helped with the decor and what not else!!! The day was beautifully coordinated by Kristin from On the Day Events. A job well done!
The wedding day was highly emotional, and Niel and I really felt like it was magic. Walking down the aisle with him waiting at the end in tears was definitely the most precious moment of my life. We felt overjoyed with all the love and celebration, it’s a day that we would like to relive over and over again.
A Magical Autumn Wedding Theme
Anneke’s wedding dress was made by Anje Bridal Couture. What made the dress unique was the fact that instead of the traditional veil, Anneke opted for a ‘cape’ – an element that further added to the “mystery-magic” theme. For the chilly autumn evening, Anneke added a fur shawl to complement the dress. The bridesmaids wore teal wrap dresses, which allowed them to customize it to suit their own style – They looked gorgeous!!!
Niel knew what he wanted to wear since day one, and he already owned most of it. He wore emerald pants, a white shirt and his vintage tweed jacket and tie. The groomsmen wore dark brown chino pants from Woolworths, white fitted dress shirts and leather ties made by Titch leather. Instead of flower boutonnieres, they sported custom-made wooden ‘foxes’ by Die Nessie. As a part of the groomsmen gifts, the boys also wore custom striped socks in the wedding colours.
