THE EVENT PLANNERS CAPE TOWN DESTINATION WEDDING PLANNERS REVIEW
Niki & Madri
After working alongside The Event Planners for approximately 10 years, we can confidently recommend Niki, Madri and their team for destination weddings, corporate events and private celebrations in South Africa.
Our Experience Working with The Event Planners
Choosing a wedding coordinator is one of the most important decisions a couple will make, particularly when planning a destination wedding from another country. After working with The Event Planners for approximately 10 years, we can confidently recommend them as some of the most experienced and dependable Cape Town destination wedding planners we have worked with.
Our relationship with their team has included weddings, corporate functions and high-profile birthday celebrations. These events have ranged from intimate Winelands weddings to large African celebrations involving detailed programmes, multiple suppliers and guests travelling to South Africa from around the world.
As photographers and videographers, we see a side of an event that guests and clients do not always notice. We see whether the programme is realistic, whether suppliers receive the information they need and whether problems are handled without disrupting the experience. This is where the professionalism of a good coordinator becomes particularly clear.
Niki, Madri and their team remain calm, organised and approachable throughout the day. We always know where we need to be, what is happening next and who to speak to when something needs attention.

Destination Wedding Planning in South Africa
Many of The Event Planners’ clients live overseas and choose South Africa for their wedding celebrations. Planning a destination wedding involves far more than simply selecting a venue and booking a few suppliers.
Couples often need assistance with venue sourcing, budgets, logistics, styling, guest transport, accommodation, supplier appointments and the complete wedding-day programme. The Event Planners provide support throughout this process, acting as the couple’s local point of contact while coordinating the different people responsible for bringing the celebration together.
Their services include full wedding planning, on-the-day coordination, venue sourcing, supplier management, event design, styling, logistics and creative direction.
Niki Denner heads their corporate events and functions division, while Madri le Roux-Moriz leads their wedding planning and styling. Their different areas of expertise complement one another, particularly when an event requires both detailed logistical management and a strong creative direction.
Experienced with African and Multicultural Weddings
The Event Planners have coordinated many African weddings and celebrations, including weddings for Nigerian and other international couples travelling to Cape Town and the Cape Winelands.
These weddings can include several cultural traditions, outfit changes, family entrances, religious elements and large guest lists. They may also extend across several days, requiring careful communication and a clear understanding of what is important to the couple and their families.
While they have considerable experience with African weddings, their approach is not limited to one culture or style. We have seen them work comfortably with couples and families from many different backgrounds.
They take the time to understand the traditions and priorities of each client rather than applying the same format to every celebration. This makes them a strong option for multicultural couples or international families looking for Cape Town destination wedding planners who can combine local knowledge with respect for their customs.
Sibusisiwe and Kehinde’s Cavalli Estate Wedding
One of the weddings we photographed and filmed with their team was Sibusisiwe and Kehinde’s African wedding at Cavalli Estate.
The UK-based couple selected Cavalli Estate in Stellenbosch for an elegant, faith-centred celebration surrounded by family and friends. The ceremony took place in Cavalli’s Sunken Garden, followed by confetti, a champagne tower and an outdoor cocktail hour.
The celebration later moved into the Conservatory for the reception. The Event Planners worked alongside the décor team to create a warm, modern setting that suited the architecture of the venue and the couple’s vision.
From our perspective, the programme allowed enough time for the important parts of the celebration without making the photography and videography feel rushed. The ceremony, family moments, couple portraits, speeches and entertainment flowed naturally into one another.
This is particularly important at a venue such as Cavalli Estate, where the gardens, water features, architecture and mountain views provide several excellent photography locations. A well-managed timeline gave us the opportunity to use these areas while still allowing the couple to spend meaningful time with their guests.
Bruno and Barbara’s Intimate Boschendal Wedding
We also worked with The Event Planners on Bruno and Barbara’s wedding at Boschendal.
This was a very different type of celebration, bringing together only 19 guests for an intimate destination wedding in the Cape Winelands.
The ceremony and canapés were hosted at the Olive Press, followed by portraits during the late-afternoon light. Guests then moved to The Werf for an elegant dinner reception.
Although smaller weddings may appear simpler, they still require thoughtful coordination. Every guest is closely involved in the experience, and there is often less room for delays or uncertainty.
The transition between the different Boschendal spaces was handled smoothly, creating a relaxed flow while allowing us to photograph the vineyards, historic architecture, gardens and mountain surroundings. The result was a personal celebration that felt refined without becoming overly formal.
Calm Problem-Solving Behind the Scenes
A good coordinator does not prevent every unexpected situation. Weather changes, supplier delays and last-minute programme adjustments can happen at almost any event. What matters is how those situations are managed.
This is one of the reasons we enjoy working with Niki and Madri. They focus on finding a solution without transferring unnecessary stress to the couple or their families.
That impression is also reflected in the feedback on their Pink Book profile. A recent client review praised Niki’s organisation, calmness and ability to understand the couple’s vision throughout an extended planning period.
When unexpected rain affected their Boschendal wedding, the team reportedly implemented a last-minute wet-weather plan and arranged a tented setup that allowed the celebration to continue successfully. This kind of adaptability is especially valuable when coordinating outdoor weddings in the Cape Winelands.
A Strong Relationship with Wedding Suppliers
The relationship between a coordinator and the other suppliers has a direct effect on the wedding day.
The Event Planners have worked in the South African events industry for many years and have established relationships with venues, caterers, décor teams, entertainers, photographers and videographers.
They understand that each supplier needs sufficient information and realistic time to complete their work properly. Timelines are communicated clearly, access arrangements are considered and the relevant suppliers are kept informed when something changes.
This creates a professional environment where everyone can concentrate on doing their best work. For us, it means we can focus on documenting the wedding rather than trying to establish what is happening next.
Corporate Events and Private Celebrations
Our work with The Event Planners has not been limited to weddings. We have also photographed and filmed corporate events and high-profile birthday celebrations coordinated by their team.
Their corporate services include conferences, product launches, awards functions, year-end events and other branded experiences. Private events can include milestone birthdays, engagement celebrations, proposals and intimate gatherings.
These events require a slightly different approach from weddings, particularly when managing branding, entertainment, formal programmes and guest experiences. However, the same qualities remain important: detailed planning, clear communication and calm management on the day.
Our Five-Star Recommendation
After approximately a decade of working together, we can genuinely vouch for the five-star service offered by Niki, Madri and The Event Planners team.
They are professional without being impersonal, creative without losing sight of practical considerations and experienced enough to manage complicated events calmly.
We would particularly recommend them to:
- International couples planning a destination wedding in South Africa
- African and multicultural couples looking for culturally adaptable planners
- Couples considering Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Franschhoek or the wider Cape Winelands
- Clients requiring full planning rather than only on-the-day coordination
- Companies arranging professional corporate functions or private celebrations
- Couples who value clear communication and a well-managed wedding programme
For couples searching for reliable Cape Town destination wedding planners, The Event Planners are a team we are always pleased to see on the supplier list.
Our recommendation is based on what we have personally experienced while working beside them at real weddings and events. We have seen the preparation before guests arrive, the coordination throughout the programme and the problem-solving that takes place quietly behind the scenes.
That consistency is why we continue to enjoy working with Niki and Madri and why we are comfortable recommending them to our own clients.
