Arriving at Live Aqua Beach Resort Cancún

The group stayed at the five-star Live Aqua Beach Resort Cancún, situated in Cancún’s famous Hotel Zone.

The beachfront resort provided a relaxed base for the programme, with views over the Caribbean, swimming pools, restaurants and plenty of space for delegates to settle in after travelling from South Africa.

The first evening included an informal welcome dinner at the resort. These relaxed opening events are important to photograph because they capture the anticipation at the beginning of a trip. Delegates reconnect, meet new people and start settling into the destination before the main activities begin.

The resort was also the setting for leisure time around the beach and pool. These quieter moments help complete the visual story and show the balance between organised activities and personal time that makes an incentive programme enjoyable.

A Private Catamaran Cruise to Isla Mujeres

One of the first major activities was a private catamaran cruise to Isla Mujeres.

Leaving Cancún by boat gave the group an immediate introduction to the brilliant blue water of the Caribbean. From a photography perspective, boat trips always bring movement and energy into the story. There are wide destination photographs, spontaneous interactions between delegates and smaller moments as everyone relaxes and enjoys the journey.

The private catamaran experience was followed by a buffet lunch at Zama Beach Club. The beach club combines a relaxed island atmosphere with views over the Caribbean and caters for private groups and special events.

It was the kind of day that explains why Cancún and Isla Mujeres work so well for corporate reward travel. The destination feels luxurious without every experience needing to be formal.

An Elite Welcome Dinner at Siete Lagunas

That evening, the Elite group attended its official welcome dinner at Siete Lagunas.

Situated beside Nichupté Lagoon, the venue provided a completely different atmosphere from the daytime island experience. Its waterfront setting and wide lagoon views created a striking backdrop as the group moved into the more formal part of the convention.

The itinerary also allowed delegates time to enjoy the facilities at Live Aqua, relax beside the pool, spend time on the beach or explore Cancún independently.

The programme then moved away from Cancún’s beaches for a completely different adventure at Río Secreto.

This protected natural reserve is known for its underground river system and dramatic cave formations. The group explored a subterranean environment filled with stalactites and stalagmites before attending a cocktail reception inside the cave.

Photographing an experience like Río Secreto comes with challenges. The light is limited, the environment is wet and the photographers need to move efficiently without disrupting the activity.

The trip concluded with a farewell gala dinner at Hacienda La Esperanza.

The venue recreated the character of a traditional Mexican hacienda through colourful architecture, extensive gardens and authentically styled entertainment spaces.

After several days of beach activities, boat travel and natural adventures, the gala provided a memorable final chapter to the programme. It gave the delegates an opportunity to dress up, celebrate their achievements and enjoy one final evening together.

We photographed the venue, décor, guest arrivals, entertainment, speeches and celebrations throughout the night. The colourful Mexican setting offered a completely different visual identity from the modern beachfront resort and natural environment of Río Secreto.

Hacienda La Esperanza is used for large celebrations and incorporates traditional Mexican styling across its gardens and event areas.
